TITIKSHA PUBLIC SCHOOL is Among Nation’s First Schools to Join New Campaign Led by Harvard’s Making Caring Common Project to Bridge Divides, Build Stronger Communities
Caring Schools #CommonGood Campaign Led by Harvard’s Making Caring Common Project Launched Today
New Delhi: Titiksha Public School is among the nation’s first schools to join a new national campaign to mobilize middle and high schools to prepare young people to be constructive community members and citizens who create a better world. Led by Harvard’s Making Caring Common Project, the Caring Schools#CommonGood campaign aims to motivate schools to take action to help mend our country’s fractures and strengthen democracy.
“We at Titiksha, care more about the people our students become than anything else. We feel that without developing the sense of caring, there would be no sense of society”, says Ms. Upasana Kinra, Vice Principal, Titiksha Public School. She also adds, “I feel the capacity to care is the thing which gives life its deepest significance. Never believe that a few caring hands can’t change the world, for indeed that’s all we ever have. We should never underestimate the power of touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, a helping hand or the smallest act of caring, as they all have the potential to turn a life around”.
The campaign seeks to advance the following specific goals by working with schools nationwide:
These goals align with and build on Making Caring Common’s successful Turning the Tide that has engaged more than 175 college admissions offices nationwide.
To join the campaign, school commits to take substantial, meaningful action to advance one or more of the campaign’s goals and to engage in a self-assessment or evaluation process to measure the impact of its actions. Schools that commit to, implement, and evaluate the impact of their efforts will earn a special designation from Making Caring Common.
Titiksha Public School is the only Indian school that joined the campaign as “early leaders” who helped to inform, shape, and build momentum for the campaign. Its commitments include Community Collaboration; Caring for self, friends and family; Improve the responsiveness to the demonstrated needs of community; value all cultures equally and Enhancing decision making to create ownership. This work will be led by Ms. Upasana Kinra.
As part of the launch, Titiksha Public School today is joining other early leaders on Facebook using the Caring Schools #CommonGood hashtag to express support for the campaign, publicly commit to chosen actions, and encourage schools nationwide to join the effort.
